During my time in art education I developed a passion for Post War American Abstract Expressionism, my final thesis primarily focusing on “The New York School”.

I have always had periods of pursuing pure abstraction and returning to painting abstract works for the first time in several years, has been an invigorating interlude from my “signature landscapes and still life’s.

My abstracts represent an exciting stage in my creative expression, by using a less structured and directed genre to convey an emotional response through pure colour, compositional freedom and the inclusion of the dynamic medium of household paint.

Pursuing these sensibilities provides an invaluable juxtaposition to my Landscapes and Still Live’s and brings an enhanced clarity to all my work.

The Joy of working in both these art forms acts synergistically to enhance my desire to communicate new found passions through my work.
